The Oscars. The Booker Prize. The Nobel Prize. All of the year’s landmark awards ceremonies are inherently retrospective, celebrating past achievements. But there’s another type of award that looks to the future: the Challenge Prize. These awards don’t acknowledge past successes, but rather encourage future successes.
The idea is simple: choose a challenge with a clear goal and a jackpot is offered to the first person to reach it. Examples include: Longitude Award Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR)
