DJ AG was onto something after witnessing Daddy Freddy’s performance.
Known as Ashley Gordon, the DJ has gained over 385,000 followers by allowing people to join in while playing music outdoors and live streaming the sessions.
When Daddy Freddy approached him in Brixton, Gordon realized the man holding the microphone was the Guinness World Records holder for the fastest rapper and a prominent dancehall artist in the 1990s.
“That was a game changer,” Gordon recalls. “When he started performing, things went crazy after I posted it. That’s how it all began.”
Gordon’s setup is simple, consisting of decks, mixer, and cameras capturing him, the guests, and the crowd. Despite a small local audience, his online followers are vast.

Gordon embarked on a journey in 2023, setting up in various spots in North London and even traveling to Miami after leaving his corporate job.
Described as “Britain’s most important DJ” by Elijah, DJ AG brings a unique delivery that captivates audiences and introduces fresh elements to the scene.
Gordon’s popularity surge coincided with a decline in performing spaces for artists across the UK, with many nightclubs and youth clubs closing down.
Skepta’s recent question about the fate of the underground scene sparked discussions about accessibility for black artists in the UK, a sentiment echoed by Elijah.
Gordon’s platform provides a vital space for performers as the industry faces challenges and limitations, offering a raw and working-class environment.
Celebrities like MC Fizzy and Lethal B have collaborated with Gordon following Daddy Freddy, bringing their unique styles to his platform.
The inclusion of artists like Skepta and JME in his streams highlights the appeal of DJ AG’s raw and engaging performances.
