Ultra-processed foods are thought to promote overeating

People burn calories when eating ultra-high-processed foods with high protein than when eating other ultra-processed products. However, they still tend to overeat, suggesting that highly processed, protein-rich snacks should only be consumed in moderation.
Many studies have shown that ultra-highly processed foods are associated with a higher risk of developing obesity, type 2 diabetes, and other chronic diseases. It's not clear why that's not clear, but the explanation is that these products encourage people to eat too much because they can be high in fat and sugar, or because they're less filling.
