Smartphones can boost cognitive health by helping people connect socially

There are many concerns about the concept of “digital dementia.” The idea of being dependent on smartphones and the Internet reduces a person’s cognitive abilities. But of at least 50 people, these technologies actually appear to have the opposite effect.
A meta-analysis of nearly 60 studies involving 410,000 people in this age group found that people who spend more time using smartphones, computers and the Internet were less likely to have cognitive impairment and less likely to slow cognitive decline.
