Quantum GPS will help future pilots navigate
Lightfield Studios Inc./Alamy
Quantum magnetic navigation systems have been tested to guide aircraft, surpassing standard backup systems where planes depend when GPS signals are clogged.
GPS and other global navigation satellite systems use radio signals transmitted between space and Earth. However, these radio waves are relatively weak and are vulnerable to intentional jamming, as seen in 2024 when GPS affected jamming and spoofing. Today, GPS backup systems are becoming increasingly important as planes face navigation challenges.
