All living organisms, people included, continuously emit a faint glow, which seems to vanish upon death. Monitoring this phenomenon could eventually assist in tracking forest health and identifying medical issues.
The presence of this subtle glow is subject to debate, but it’s thought to stem from a process known as ultra-weak photon emission. Within our cells, mitochondria and other energy-generating components contain molecules that absorb and release energy, emitting the equivalent of numerous photons every second per square centimeter of skin.
