Changes Coming to Old Reddit Accessibility on Reddit
Reddit is implementing new restrictions on access to Old Reddit in an effort to reduce scraping and automated traffic. Users will soon need to be logged in and have used the Old Reddit interface within the past six months to continue using it.
According to a recent Reddit post, these changes will cover the majority of Old Reddit users, with an exception for moderators who will have continued access regardless of usage frequency. The goal is to make Old Reddit accessible to those who rely on it, while curtailing automated abuse.
While Reddit claims these changes are necessary to combat abuse, some users are concerned about the future of Old Reddit. Spokeswoman Rosa Kim clarified that the intention is to preserve Old Reddit for genuine users and prevent it from becoming a tool for fraudulent activities.
As Reddit CEO Steve Huffman confirmed, the platform is working towards modernizing Old Reddit infrastructure to ensure a safe and reliable user experience. These updates aim to enhance security and reduce unauthorized access, without excluding legitimate users and moderators.
Stay tuned for further updates on Reddit’s approach to maintaining the integrity of Old Reddit while safeguarding against misuse.
