Motorola’s Signature 27 will combine Google’s Gemini-powered features with Motorola’s own Qira platform, while also offering support for users who want to install the privacy-focused GrapheneOS operating system. The phone will cost $1,599.99 and launch on November 26, with pre-orders beginning November 19.
Google and Motorola AI features
The Signature 27 will be a full Gemini Intelligence device, giving it access to Google’s broadest set of AI capabilities. Motorola said the phone will support Google’s agent app control, Create My Widget, Sign-to-Text, and Rambler voice input. Most of these features remain exclusive to Pixel smartphones, however, so Motorola expects them to arrive on the Signature 27 “in the coming months.”
Motorola will also continue offering its own AI tools. Catch me up, which summarizes notifications, and Pay Attention, which creates meeting notes, remain supported. The company appears to have dropped the Moto AI branding for these features, incorporating them instead into Motorola Qira, an AI platform designed to connect Motorola phones with Lenovo computers.
GrapheneOS support
For buyers who do not want to use those services, the Signature 27 offers another option. It is the first Motorola smartphone covered by the company’s partnership with GrapheneOS. The privacy-focused operating system is based on Android but does not include Google apps or tracking features.
Motorola does not plan to ship the Signature 27 with GrapheneOS preinstalled, so buyers will need to install it themselves. The company will provide details about the process later. As with a Pixel phone, the process is expected to involve unlocking the bootloader and flashing the operating system.
Price and availability
The GrapheneOS team said several months ago that the first device from its Motorola collaboration would cost more than a Pixel, and the Signature 27 does. Motorola has set the price at $1,599.99, making it more expensive than high-end flagship phones from Samsung and Apple.
Foldable phones including the $1,900 Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Motorola’s $1,900 Razr Fold cost less than $300 more than the Signature 27. The iPhone Duo is also only $400 more expensive than Motorola’s new flagship slab-style phone.
Motorola has not announced any carrier partnerships. The Signature 27 will therefore be sold directly through Motorola, Best Buy, and Amazon when it launches on November 26. Pre-orders will open on November 19.
