In the brief history of space exploration, humans have already made significant changes to the moon. From the cultural legacy of our first footprints to the damage caused by spacecraft crashes, our existence is largely frozen in time within the moon’s dusty regolith.
Now, researchers are pushing to officially define a new lunar epoch: the lunar Anthropocene.
