Eating meat is a major contributor to two of the biggest problems facing humanity: global warming and biodiversity loss. Agriculture is one of the main sources of greenhouse gas emissions, but when land is given up to grow food for livestock, there is less space for wildlife to live.
This is why many studies highlight the huge benefits for the environment if people simply reduce their meat intake. A plant-based diet has a much lower footprint in terms of carbon emissions and land. Additionally, there are also ethical and health arguments for such a diet.
