Ukraine has introduced an AI-generated spokesperson named Victoria to deliver an official statement on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The ministry stated that they will be utilizing digital press officers to read statements prepared by humans for the first time.
In a presentation shared on social media, the spokesperson, identified as “digital human” Victoria Sea, appeared in a dark suit, using hand gestures and head movements as she spoke.
The Foreign Ministry clarified that Victoria Sea’s remarks were crafted by real humans and not AI-generated. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba described her as a technological advancement unmatched by any diplomat globally.
The main objective behind Victoria’s creation is to streamline processes and save time and resources for diplomats. She was developed by a team called Game Changers, known for their virtual reality content related to the Ukraine conflict.
The spokesperson’s name is a combination of “victory” and the Ukrainian term for artificial intelligence. Her appearance and voice are modeled after Rosalie Nombre, a singer and former contestant on The Bachelor from Donetsk, now under Russian control.
Nombre volunteered for the role, emphasizing that Victoria Sea and Rosalie Nombre are distinct individuals, with only the AI persona issuing official statements.
To prevent tampering, each statement will include a QR code linking to the text version on the ministry’s website. Victoria Sea will address the controversial consular services currently in discussion.
Recently, Ukraine halted consular services for fighting-age men residing abroad, necessitating their return home for administrative procedures and potential conscription.
