Methane leaks from sites such as rice paddies, landfills, dairy farms, and coal mines can be trapped with the help of gas-poiling bacteria, helping to curb short-term global warming.
Later this year, US researchers will deploy bioreactors filled with strains of methane-eating bacteria that are specially raised in Washington landfills.
They hope that field tests will prove that these bacteria known as methanotropas can be deployed in bioreactors to collect methane…
