Known for its elaborate circular web, the spider has changed the spinning style in the dark space to create apparent stumbling for walking prey.
The ones that make round nets are known as orb weavers, and most of them trap mosquitoes, beetles and other flying insects in sticky spiral frame webs that are sparsely attached to outdoor structures such as tree branches. However, the European cave orb spider (Metamenaldi) says to fix their webs to secure the walls into the cave, using double silk strands that appear to vibrate when stumbled by unsuspecting crawlers Thomas Hesselberg At Oxford University.
