Deepfake videos that digitally manipulate individuals’ facial expressions and voices can also depict realistic heartbeats, increasing their believability.
“Just because a video of a person shows a detectable pulse doesn’t mean it’s genuine,” states Honey Farid, who was not part of the research team at the University of California, Berkeley.
