Bottlenose dolphins have different teeth than many other mammals

Anatomical studies of dolphin jaws suggest that dolphin teeth act as antennae for sound waves and may help explain how they hear and use echolocation underwater .
“Our findings support the hypothesis that dolphins use their teeth as part of a sophisticated sound reception system,” he says. Ryo Kodera at Tsurumi University in Japan. “This discovery provides insight into how dentition helps dolphins with their underwater lives.”
