You might have noticed that the moon appeared slightly different last night. It was full, hung low, and radiated a bright pink hue in certain areas.
This was the Strawberry Moon in June. The name doesn’t come from its reddish tint; rather, it signifies that the fruit of the same name is ripe for picking in June.

In certain regions, the moon emitted a strawberry-like red and pink glow as its light passed through the densest layers of the atmosphere. This phenomenon was observed over ponds in New York City, Florida, as well as in the UK and Cyprus.
