North America's wildfire season is off to an active start. In May, large wildfires raged in western Canada, prompting evacuations and sending smoke into the air of the U.S. Midwest, briefly causing the region's air quality to be the worst in the country. Last week, smoke from wildfires in Mexico blew north, exacerbating air pollution in the southeastern U.S.
