Someone told me about the Dyson field in the mid-1970s. Maybe it was Paul Anderson. Freeman Dyson’s innovative construction included all the description habitats and widgets surrounding the star. The point was that telescopes on the ground could find alien life by looking at a particular star.
I absorbed the author’s version of science fiction. It assembled all the industrial sunlight, ping pong balls as big as Earth’s orbit, surrounded by the sun. It will anchor inside.
I played with it. Gravity and fantasy-sized funding is required that violate the general theory of relativity. Without both, you will rotate it and only the equator will be useful…
Why not just build the equator? Much cheaper. Spin – I destroyed the numbers. This is not a sol, so it’s 770 miles per second. This size allows most of the atmosphere to be kept inside 1000 miles of walls, without a roof. Leakage is acceptable. Spread the landscape inside: 3 million times the Earth.
