Older breads can be converted to accurately shaped electrodes using water and heat. Pan-based components can replace metal electrodes in the device, while reducing hundreds of tons of bread wasted every day.
“There are all kinds of breads, including starch, protein, water, and more.” David Bouzidos At the University of Pennsylvania. “You can heat it at really high temperatures without oxygen and then you can get a carbon skeleton.”
