A new type of rehabilitation therapy for stroke patients, in which electrical stimulation of muscles during movement is used, helped improve arm function in a small study. The therapy induces muscle contractions at the same time as patients voluntarily try to move their limbs, seemingly helping to regenerate neural pathways in the brain.
