Supplying enough energy to the black hole can cause an explosion

Physicists have built long-standing black hole bombs where energy is increased by black holes until an explosion occurs, trapped in surrounding mirrors. Thankfully, this version is a safe toy model rather than using real black holes in space, but the physical principles are the same, which could help researchers better understand how real black holes rotate.
