The U.S. government uses census data to fairly distribute resources

Changes to the U.S. government’s census processing system could improve the accuracy of publicly available data without compromising the privacy of individual citizens or residents.
The government relies on census data collected every 10 years by the U.S. Census Bureau to distribute hundreds of billions of dollars in federal funds to states and local communities. Such data also plays an important political role when states draw their congressional district boundaries and determine the number of seats in the House of Representatives.
