Over the coming weeks, Paris will welcome the world’s top athletes, including some of the swiftest individuals on the planet: those participating in the Olympics possess the ability to complete a marathon in slightly over two hours, a mile in less than four minutes, and 100 meters in under 10 seconds.
Not long ago, an unusual assortment of athletes gathered in the small English town of Congham: numerous snails. These snails had gathered to participate in the World Snail Racing Championships. The current world record for navigating the 13.5-inch course stands at exactly two minutes. Racing at a pace of about 0.006 miles per hour, it would require a snail more than six days to cover a mile.
