Conventional cameras can capture images of the unseen instantly, using algorithms to decipher how light reflects off surfaces.
“Typically, when light hits an uneven surface like a wall, it causes the image to become quite blurry,” says Wen Wen Lee from China University of Science and Technology, HEFEI. “Our objective was to ‘scramble’ the concealed images to blur and recover them. It’s akin to transforming a rough wall into a reflective surface.”
