Countries that emit the most greenhouse gases will be most responsible for overshooting their 1.5°C target

Countries should be responsible for how much they are liable when the world overshoots the 1.5°C warming limit – a team of climate scientists suggests if “net zero carbon debt” exceeds a fair share of emissions.
The aim is to encourage people who are more responsible for overshooting, for example, by removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere or helping other countries reach net zero faster.
