Although officially classified as contaminated, agricultural land around the Chernobyl reactor appears to be safe for food production as tests have shown radiation levels to be below dangerous levels according to Ukrainian regulations. Changing the status of this land could help make up for agricultural land lost during Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
