“When the El Niño signal is strong, it’s warmer than normal, and that’s been the case all winter,” Patterson said. “We also broke multiple high temperature records and high low temperatures.”
Patterson said there have been reports of damage in Evansville, Edgerton and Albany, which are rural areas south of Madison.
No major injuries were reported, Patterson said.
It was not immediately clear whether all the damage was caused by a single tornado or if multiple tornadoes touched down in Wisconsin. Patterson said National Weather Service officials visited the damage site Friday to assess the damage and classify the strength of the confirmed tornadoes on the Enhanced Fujita Scale.
