Mars is often touted as the next habitable planet for humans, but the radiation doses we are exposed to greatly increase the risk of fetal abnormalities and cannot be avoided with existing technology.
Compared to Earth, the surface of Mars is exposed to much higher levels of radiation, which can kill cells and cause cancer.
