Michael Pitman, an assistant professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong specializing in dinosaur research, expressed his excitement about a recent breakthrough in finding dinosaur bones. He mentioned that it is a challenging task to find dinosaur bones and emphasized the importance of the right stones, age, and environment for discovery.
Although Mr. Pittman has not seen any fossils yet, he remains hopeful that Hong Kong will uncover more. The fossils discovered so far are in relatively small fragments, several meters long, and will contribute to a larger framework in the future.
The fossils studied in Hong Kong have come from different locations, and Pittman mentioned that the leading countries in dinosaur paleontology are China, the United States, Canada, and Argentina. He highlighted the significance of Hong Kong’s potential contribution to fossil research.
In nearby China’s Guangdong province, fossils of four different dinosaur species and over 30,000 dinosaur eggs have been found.
