The strange and frighteningly difficult material known as “a plumber’s nightmare” was made from tiny intertwined tubes. Although the substance itself is not particularly useful, the technology needed to make it could potentially be used to construct other difficult-to-manufacture materials.
A Plumber’s Nightmare consists of a pattern of six intersecting tubes. This means that the sample contains a large number of tubes that connect and intersect in complex ways. The substance was first theorized 20 years before him and had previously been made from soap-like molecules in water.
