These ancient swords were modified by forgers

Imaging techniques have revealed that an ancient sword recently smuggled into Britain has been modified by modern forgers, with much of the original iron blade replaced by a bronze sword. Additionally, many similar swords in museums around the world may also have been contaminated by modern forgeries.
The sword in question comes from present-day Iran and dates back to an important period in history: the end of the Bronze Age and the beginning of the Iron Age. As the name suggests, this marked a technological change when iron became a metal.
