Most people believe that they receive online advertisements as a result of their devices secretly eavesdropping on their offline conversations, even though there is no evidence that such a thing is happening.
Joanna Strichards Researchers from the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands conducted a survey of 886 people in the United States, the Netherlands, and Poland to find out their opinions about online advertising. The team selected these countries because they believe they represent a variety of potential views on surveillance, but U.S. privacy laws are generally considered weaker than European privacy laws.
