A new approach to diagnosing Lyme disease could enable patients to receive treatment sooner, potentially reducing the risk of long-term complications.
Lyme disease is caused by the bacteria Lyme Borrelia. It is transmitted to humans through tick bites. Early symptoms include fever, headache, and weakness, which can develop into persistent fatigue and pain if not treated immediately with antibiotics.
Doctors can diagnose the disease by finding the characteristic bull’s-eye rash. About 30% of people who get Lyme disease never develop symptoms.……
