Why War?

Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Israel's military incursion into Gaza, civil wars in Sudan and Myanmar, tens of thousands of people dead, millions displaced, and global military spending reaching $2.4 trillion in 2023 alone.
The persistence of this war simultaneously defies explanation and demands explanation. Many have tried. Albert Einstein attempted to correspond (inconclusively) with Sigmund Freud on the subject. Why War? Since then, many books have been published with this title.
