Lucy, a fossil hominin who lived about 3.2 million years ago, would have been impossible for modern humans to beat in a race.
Even an average human of our species would have left her far behind in a 100-meter dash, and Usain Bolt, the current world record holder for this distance, would have surpassed Lucy somewhere between 50 and 80 meters. He would have broken the record.
Carl Bates, researchers at the University of Liverpool in the UK, have tried to determine the speed of Lucy’s species for the first time.
