of Hurricane Milton’s eerie swirling gray This photo was taken from the Cooperative Institute for Atmospheric Research in the Gulf of Mexico. In October, Milton became one of the most powerful Atlantic hurricanes ever recorded in the Gulf of Mexico, with wind speeds reaching 285 km/h. It made landfall in Florida as a Category 3 storm, causing heavy rain and flooding that damaged homes and power lines. At least 35 people have died, 32 in the United States and three in Mexico.
