Searching for the oldest DNA

Embracing failure leads to experience and ultimately to extraordinary achievement, which is the heart of Niobe Thompson’s documentary. Searching for the oldest DNA premiered at this year’s Copenhagen International Documentary Film Festival.
The film follows Danish evolutionary geneticist Eske Willerslev, now at the University of Cambridge, whose team used ancient DNA to reconstruct an ecosystem that existed two million years ago in the Kapp Copenhagen Formation in northern Greenland, an area now an Arctic desert.
