The Sun's gravity could potentially capture objects, such as interstellar comets or rogue planets, from as far away as 3.8 light-years away, making our solar system much larger than previously thought.
The extent of the Sun's gravitational influence on the Milky Way Galaxy is unknown, but it likely extends at least as far as the Oort Cloud, a sphere of trillions of icy objects more than a light-year away from the Sun that is sometimes considered the outer edge of the Milky Way Galaxy.
