Even though both groups ate the same amount of food, mice that exercised vigorously gained weight over the next 24 hours, whereas mice that exercised moderately or did not exercise at all did not. This is what research has revealed. This adds to growing evidence that animals, including ourselves, compensate for the extra energy expended during exercise by reducing energy expenditure in other ways.
