Some people see mathematics as cold, rigid logic, quite different from creative pursuits. In fact, mathematics has a lot to do with creativity. Mathematician Sofia Kovalevskaya wrote, “It is impossible to be a mathematician unless your soul is a poet.” Poetry is often constrained by rules, but these rules enhance poetry’s creativity, not undermine it.
Rhyming poems generally follow a system in which each line is formed by assigning a letter, and lines with matching letters rhyme. This stanza from a poem by AA Milne uses the ABAB system.
