The rare collision between two super-large black holes (SMBHs) appears to be sending the resulting merger speeding through space.
Astronomers have long been confused about how giant black holes in the heart of the galaxy grow larger. One possible route is the merger of smaller, but still very large black holes, but there is little direct evidence of this event.
