The measure is an extension of the app’s existing set of controls that allow users to filter “spam and offensive comments, and specific keywords.”
Control over the comments isn’t the only niceness initiative. TikTok has also unveiled a second — perhaps more democratic tool — that prompts the posters themselves to “reconsider posting a comment that may be inappropriate or unkind.”
It also allows the peanut gallery to edit posts before uploading and reminds them of the community guidelines to ensure that their remarks are hunky-dory.
“We want TikTok to continue to be a place where creativity can thrive, and we hope these new features help to further foster kindness and community,” they wrote.
