I usually lead the Startups Weekly column with my own column, but this week AI expert Devin has written a must-read article about the rules for AI to protect our humanity. He proposes new guidelines for AI, including that it cannot present your face or identity, cannot “feel” or “think”, and that AI-generated numbers, decisions, and answers should be marked with a “⸫”. Check out the article for more interesting challenges as AI becomes more mature and ubiquitous.
In other news, Bird, the electric scooter company, has filed for bankruptcy after a $2 billion valuation and financial collapse. And in the AI world, there are developments such as Microsoft Copilot being integrated into a music app and Spotify testing an AI playlist feature.
Apple has been ordered to contribute $25 million to settle a lawsuit over its Family Sharing feature, while Google settles a lawsuit with $700 million. Other startups like Claim and Jagat are making strides in social media and location-based social networking.
