It is a truth universally acknowledged that every single man who owns a computer must be looking for an AI girlfriend. Indeed, many enterprising individuals seem to think there is a lucrative market for digital romance. OpenAI recently launched the Her GPT Store, where paid Her Chat GPT users can buy and sell customized chatbots (think Apple’s app store, for chatbots). Its products include a rich digital his girlfriend.
“AI girlfriend bots are already flooding OpenAI’s GPT store.” Headline from Quartz, which first reported this issue, rang out Thursday. Quartz goes on to say that “AI Girlfriend Bot violates OpenAI’s Usage Policy… Company bans GPT “Dedicated to facilitating romantic relationships or engaging in regulated activities.”

What exactly do these chatbots do? While digital girlfriends tend to grab all the headlines, there's also a male version.
