Ancient humans regularly made tools out of animal bones 15 million years ago. It’s over a million years ago than previously thought. This shows that the techniques they used to make stone tools to reuse bone, a very different material, can be adapted.
It also raises the question of why people have made bone tools for another million years. Is that example of that gap has not been preserved or discovered, or did people abandon them in favor of something better? …
