Exciting Updates on Lord of the Rings: Ring of Power Season 3
Lord of the Rings: Ring of Power is set to return with a highly anticipated third season next month. Prime Video recently released the official full trailer after only teasing fans with a glimpse at San Diego Comic-Con earlier this year. The upcoming season promises intense action and drama as Sauron rises to power, leading an army of orcs on a quest to conquer Middle-earth. Meanwhile, a coalition of elves, dwarves, and humans must unite to stop him, with one human male even transforming into a Ringwraith, known as Naznyagol (“Servants of the Ring”) by the showrunners.
(Warning: Spoilers for the first two seasons ahead.)
Prime Video made significant investments when acquiring the rights to the original story from Tolkien’s estate, committing to multiple seasons from the start. Season 3 picks up seven years after the events of Season 2, diving into the heated conflict between the Elves and Sauron as it approaches a critical turning point. The official synopsis sets the stage:
As Middle-earth plunges into war in Season 3, the fallout from the fall of Elegion reverberates through the land. Sauron’s relentless army sweeps across the world, leaving destruction in its wake. Only a few last bastions of resistance remain, such as the sealed dwarven halls of Khazaddum and the elven realms of Lindon and Rivendell, shielded by the power of the Three Rings.
Deep within Mordor, within the towering walls of the new Baradur, the Dark Lord labors ceaselessly to bend the forces of Middle-earth to his will. One ring to rule them all. Now, the fate of all free folk—be they dwarves, elves, humans, or wizards—is intertwined in a desperate race against time to thwart Sauron’s insidious plan for domination.
Alongside the return of familiar faces, Season 3 introduces new characters to further enrich the story. Notable additions include Jamie Campbell Bower as Celeborn, the estranged spouse of Galadriel (Morfydd Clarke); Zubin Varla as Kamru, an enigmatic Easterner from Lun; Eddie Marsan as Thrain, elder brother of Durin IV (Owain Arthur); Andrew Richardson as Anarion, scion of Elendil (Lloyd Owen) and sibling to Isildur (Maxim Baldry); and Adam Young voicing the intriguing orc named Marnuk, whose true nature remains shrouded in mystery. And in a surprising twist, the fiery Balrog is brought to life by the talented voice of Simon Pegg.
