Apple has released version 27.2 of its operating systems, including iOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS, and visionOS. The updates add new Siri AI capabilities, including conversational memory and access to more types of personal data, while also introducing contextual suggestions, additional languages, and several platform-specific changes.
iOS 27.2
The main focus of iOS 27.2 is Siri AI. Siri now includes a memory feature that allows it to “recall past conversations” and refer to them during future chats. The information Siri can use when responding has also been expanded to include voicemails, message attachments, and more.
A new “Exclude apps” option lets users “choose which apps Siri, Search, and Suggestions can access.” Siri AI is also now available in five additional languages: French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish. However, Siri AI is still unavailable in Europe and mainland China.
Other iOS additions include context-aware suggestions in Messages, such as turning an invitation into a calendar entry, support for SynthID watermarks in photos, and support for user profiles in the Apple TV app. Alongside new Apple Music branding, the previously promised Apple Pencil support may also be coming to the foldable iPhone Duo.
Updates across Apple’s other platforms
macOS Golden Gate 27.2 includes some of the same features, including contextual memory for Siri and the additional Siri AI languages, along with other unspecified bug fixes. The Apple Watch update likewise focuses largely on the same Siri-related changes. visionOS 27.2 adds the new languages and updated music icons.
As previously reported, the beta release of macOS 27.2 revealed several references to new gesture-recognition features for apps including Photos, Notes, and Safari. These references may be related to unconfirmed reports that the next MacBook Pro refresh will support touch input. The report is likely to be discussed at a public briefing scheduled for this Wednesday.
Apple’s own iOS and macOS update notes are below.
