Strange galaxies that existed in the early universe lived young and died young. This is the most distant “dead” galaxy, meaning it has not formed any new stars that have never been discovered before.
Galaxy JADES-GS+53.15508-27.80178 was discovered in 2010, but astronomers at the time were unable to characterize it in detail. Francesco Deugenio Researchers from the University of Cambridge discovered the star formation when they observed it again with the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST).
