antenna: (plural: antennae or antennae) In biology: any of a pair of elongated sensory appendages on the head of insects, crustaceans, and other arthropods.
application: a specific use or function of something.
biologist: Scientists involved in biological research.
bird: A winged warm-blooded animal that first appeared during the dinosaur era. Birds are covered in feathers and give birth to their young from eggs laid in some kind of nest. Most birds fly, but throughout history there have been occasional flightless species.
compass needle:A device that uses magnetized material to indicate the direction of magnetic north.
data: Facts and/or statistics collected together for analysis. They are not necessarily organized in a way that gives them meaning. For digital information (the type stored by computers), these data are typically numbers stored in binary code and represented as strings of 0's and 1's.
information: (as opposed to data) A fact provided or a learned trend about something or someone, often as a result of the study of data.
boy: Young, subadult animals. These are older than “babies” or larvae, but are not yet mature enough to be considered adults.
latitude: Distance from the equator in degrees (up to 90). Lower latitudes are closer to the equator. High latitudes are closer to the poles.
longitude: The distance (measured in degrees) from the prime meridian, an imaginary line that cuts across the Earth's surface from the North Pole to the South Pole, passing through Greenwich, England.
mammalian: A warm-blooded animal distinguished by having hair or fur, by the fact that females secrete milk to nurse their young, and (usually) by the fact that they give birth to live young.
Transition: moving over long distances (often across many countries) in search of a new home. (in biology) traveling from one place to another at a certain time of the year in order to find food or more comfortable conditions (such as better weather). Species that migrate every year are migratory bird. (in chemistry) Transfer from one material (usually a solid) to an adjacent liquid, such as water.
emigration: (v. migration) moving from one area or habitat to another, especially on a regular basis (and according to the seasons) or in response to some driving force (such as climate or war). Individuals who make this move are known as immigrants.
migratory bird: adjective for a species that migrates long distances each year along fairly regular routes in search of food and more comfortable conditions (such as better weather). Such travel is known as emigration.
navigate: Finding your way through a landscape using visual cues, sensory information (such as scent), magnetic information (such as a built-in compass), or other techniques.
numerical: It has something to do with numbers.
online: (noun) on the internet. (adjective) A term used to describe something that can be found or accessed on the Internet.
wireless: Refers to a device that receives radio waves or their communications. Radio waves are a part of the electromagnetic spectrum commonly used for long-distance communications. Radio waves, which are longer than visible light waves, are used to transmit radio and television signals. It is also used in radar. Many celestial bodies also radiate some of their energy as radio waves.
range: the total extent or distribution of something. For example, a plant or animal's habitat is the area in which it naturally occurs.
software: A mathematical instruction that directs computer hardware, including the processor, to perform a specific operation.
seed: A group of similar organisms that can survive and produce offspring that can reproduce.
statistics: The practice or science of collecting and analyzing large amounts of numerical data and interpreting its meaning. Much of this work involves reducing errors that can result from random variation. Professionals working in this field are called statisticians.
system: A network of parts that work together to accomplish some function. For example, blood, blood vessels, and the heart are the main components of the human body's circulatory system. Similarly, trains, platforms, tracks, road signals, and elevated tracks are among the potential components of a country's railway system. Systems can also apply to processes and ideas that are part of a method or ordered sequence of steps for completing a task.
telemetry: A form of wireless communication in which measurements such as geographic location are collected, stored on a device, and then transmitted to a receiver at another location.
tool: An object made or obtained by humans or other animals that they use to accomplish some purpose, such as to reach food, protect themselves, or groom themselves.
Individual: Something different from others. The only one of its kind.
