latest winner Close-up Photographer of the Year A contest has been announced. This year’s winning entry was an amazingly timed photo of a nuthatch flying overhead through a forest. This photo was taken by Hungarian photographer Csaba Darozzi hiding inside a hollowed-out tree stump.
“The photographer clearly had an image in mind and did his utmost to ensure that the person viewing the photo shared the amazement he felt when encountering the scene.” said Tracy Calder, co-founder of the contest. BBC Science Focus. “Putting your camera inside a tree trunk really makes you feel like you’re immersed in nature.”
The contest, now in its fifth year, attracted 12,000 entries from around the world. Categories include Fungi and Slime Molds, Micro (images created using a microscope), and Young Close-up Photographer of the Year (open to applicants aged 17 and under).
Here are all the winners of this year’s contest, as well as some of our other favorites.
